Sherwood Gardens Portraits | The Warfield Family | Baltimore Portrait Photographer
I would say that we have a had a pretty mellow summer so far, don’t you think? But I know as soon as it is said, the humidity will hit and we will need to swim through to get to our cars, homes, and generally anywhere we need to go. Not to long ago, we were in that springy stage where the trees were blooming, cardigans were required “just in case” and every other day there was a chance for rain. A few weeks before Mother’s Day, Kyle Warfield reached out to me to arrange photographing a portrait session for his family to surprise his wife Becky. It was also the perfect time as their son Jack was about to turn 3!
I can not pinpoint the exact time when I met the Warfield’s but I think it was related to a crossfit group from my church (yes, we were pretty cool back then). Occasionally, when my husband is at a social gathering with the Warfield’s, one of them has to be dubbed Kyle1 and Kyle2 to avoid confusion but its always great to be around this fun family!
For their portrait session, we met at Sherwood Gardens in Baltimore, Maryland on a quiet Monday evening. Sherwood is extremely popular in spring due to all of the beautiful tulips and blooms but the chance for rain plus it being a monday helped tremendously! Although we missed the tulips, the Azaleas were in full force and the perfect backdrop for their portraits as Jack ran around and Penny was tossed between Becky and Kyle. I always love giving children space to run and play during a session as it usually results in more natural joyful moments along with one or two posed family photos (smiles assisted by gummy bear bribery thanks to Becky’s forethought :D).
