They say that rain on your wedding day is good luck. Well Jess and Zach's wedding was overflowing (literally) with good luck! When I chatted with Jessica and Zach early in 2018 to discuss their wedding plans, they shared their vision of exchanging their vows on the vista overlooking Frederick County in Gambrill State Park. Unfortunately, the rain caused a few changes in their plans but the wedding was still cozy and warm inside the Tea Room at the park. Jess poured a lot of time and energy into making the signage and special details that greeted guests. Zach plays in a wedding band and has been a part of many extravagant weddings but from early on, the two were focused on making the day their own, from choosing to forgo a traditional bridal party and instead incorporating their 3 children, symbolizing the uniting of their two families as well as the choice in the ceremony and reception locations -an intimate set-up in their own backyard. Special mementos were incorporated into the day, from the sweet message Jess had sown into her gown from her mother who passed away, to the gifts she gave to her father and now daughter.

Because the torrential rains on their wedding day weren’t the best for the portraits that Jess and Zach wanted, we met a few months later in the same spot to capture a few more portraits of just the two of them. True to form, it was cloudy, but still beautiful atop the mountains at Gambrill State Park. I’ll be sharing a few of my favorites from their after-session later so stay tuned!
