Rawlings Conservatory Engagement | JaQuelia + Shane | Baltimore Wedding Photographer

Sometimes we make plans and sometimes life has better ones in store. JaQuelia emailed me last winter as she was looking for a photographer to photograph her planned courthouse wedding on June 7th. We set up a phone consultation and proceeded to nerd out about the Marvel Universe, puppies (one of her pups is named Loki), and photography. The wedding plans were not entirely set in stone (JaQuelia and Shane were talking about their plans but Shane hadn’t proposed yet) but I remember it being such a great conversation. We continued to touch base as wedding plans were put on hold and met in person over the summer to talk a little more about learning photography as JaQuelia has had an interest in developing her photography skills for awhile.

Shane and JaQuelia’s birthdays are in October with the date being very close together so they usually host a combined party. The date of their party rolled around (October 19th) and friends gathered to celebrate their birthdays. As JaQuelia turned to the kitchen after she and Shane had thanked their friends for coming to the party, Shane knelt down, ring in hand and asked JaQuelia to marry him. She tackled him with the biggest hug and an abundance of joyful tears too as their friends cheered! It was such a special moment and Shane had chosen the perfect time!

Fast forward to their engagement session - it being winter we decided that the Rawlings Conservatory would be the best place for their session! Ironically, it happened to be a 70 degree January day here in Baltimore but you just can’t beat the backdrop of Rawlings anyway! JaQuelia chose a beautiful green velvet dress which complimented Shane’s black suit perfectly. They also had a photo from her parents that they wanted to recreate which were a little more casual (but still adorable!). It was such a fun day for their session and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding at Main Street Ballroom in March 2021!
