Morningside Inn Wedding | Ashley + Nick | Frederick Wedding Photographer

When I meet with couples and they mention incorporating their interest into their wedding day, I’m all for it! When Ashley mentioned it to me, I wasn’t quite sure how they would balance both of their interests (Snow White/Disney Princesses and Star Wars) but I think they pulled off the perfect balance between the two while keeping to the classic elegance of their day as well. This was my 3rd time photographing a Morningside Inn wedding in Frederick and I loved working with their staff to serve Ashley and Nick for their wedding! I also can’t get enough of the beautiful weeping willow that is on the property even with the steep hill!
To start the day, I first met Ashley and her bridesmaids in Frederick at the cutest french-inspired townhouse that they rented for the day. The gowns were already lined up in the master suite with their personalized hangers which I thought was adorable. Ashley’s even had a little red apple for the poison apple that Snow White was given in her fairy tale. Throughout their friendship, Ashley and her bridesmaids had taken different fairytale princess “roles” which were also referenced throughout the day! After arriving to Morningside Inn, Nick and Ashley shared their first look and a few portraits by the willow tree. Ashley is so incredibly beautiful and her hairstyle/hair piece definitely reminded me of Snow White! Have I mentioned how much I love first looks? It sets such a special tone to the day and I’ve seen stress immediately melt away as soon as they see each other too, helping couples enjoy their weddings even more.
For the ceremony, Nick and his groom squad entered to Star Wars themed music while Ashley and her bridesmaids continued with the Disney theme. As they stood overlooking the property, their friend who officiated shared that their love rivaled Luke Skywalker's love of the Force and Ashley and Nick became husband and wife! During the consultation, Ashley shared that she and Nick also love going to Escape Rooms for date nights and that Nick actually proposed in one (it was the final “puzzle”)! So for their wedding, Nick and Ashley decided to include a mini “escape room” theme during cocktail hour while we were wrapping up family portraits. Guests had clues and “puzzles” that they had to solve, some resulting in a few extra perks at the bar too :D.
Prior to the wedding, an uncle had been pressuring them to make sure to get a really good cake smash in during the cake cutting so instead, they decided to smash the pieces of cake into his face first. This special day was so full of joy and I’m so glad that Nick and Ashley truly made it their own! You can tell their deep love for each other while being able to laugh along with life! Congratulations Nick and Ashley! (and Maverick)
