Federal Hill Engagement | Michaela + DJ | Baltimore Maryland Portrait Photographer
My bags are 95% packed and ready for tomorrow morning (June 16th) as my team and I head to Haiti, but I didn't want to leave before sharing this sunrise engagement session!
A few weeks ago, Michaela, DJ, and I met at Federal Hill in Baltimore for their engagement session. May was cloudy for so many days, that I was praying for sunshine- the early rise was so worth it and did not disappoint (I think the sun was showing off a little bit after it’s long absence)! I have never seen Baltimore so peaceful. We wandered around the area, down by the water and to the exterior of the American Visionary Art Museum as Michaela and DJ shared a bit about their story together.
When Michaela and DJ met in 2010, they did NOT click. They were both in the same college class and DJ borrowed one of Michaela’s books. Lets just say that the book ended up soaked in the rain and they both left with much less than good opinions of each other. When they met again some time later at Coco Lane in Ellicott City, Michaela was on a date with someone else. That saying “time heals all wounds” certainly applied here as Michaela ended up spending the evening with DJ rather than with her original date! Since then, they truly got to know each other and their relationship grew.
During a trip to Savannah, DJ planned to propose to Michaela. They were taking a late night stroll and the Georgia heat was making Michaela eager to return to their air-conditioned hotel. DJ asked a stranger if they could snap a picture of him and Michaela before leaving. Cleverly, DJ had prepared a note in his phone that said “I’m about to propose, can you take a picture?” and the stranger was able to document the surprise proposal! Of course, Michaela’s answer was “Yes!” And I’m so excited to capture the rest of their story at their Rolling Roads wedding this fall!
