Spring Cherry Blossom Romance | Bridal Inspiration | Baltimore Wedding Photographer
Although we are still firmly set in winter here in Maryland (which, I’m a total snow fan by the way!), I am looking forward to the coming of spring and I’ve already received a few requests to schedule cherry blossom portraits! Spring is my favorite season as I love watching as the new growth of leaves and beautiful blossoms appear. Last year, we took the inspiration from the blossoming trees to create a spring bridal shoot here locally in Baltimore.
For those not familiar with a bridal shoot, here is a little background. A Bridal portrait session (typically held a month or two before the wedding day) is primarily a southern tradition although it’s history may span centuries from 15th century Italy ( according to Handbook to Life in Renaissance Europe page 76).
Of course, the tradition has evolved, but still has several benefits. A typical wedding day is filled with a very tight schedule, high emotions, and a few variables outside of your control (such as the weather). Bridal portraits before your wedding day are a great opportunity to “test run” your bridal look to literally picture how everything will together. There is more flexibility and less stress to help you ultimately feel more at ease on your wedding day while coming away with beautiful portraits. And who doesn’t want an additional opportunity to feel like a queen in their wedding gown?
Spring is always a great time to capture beautiful portraits, and bridal portraits are no exception. BUT you might need to be a little flexible, especially if you have your heart set on a cherry blossom backdrop (whose “peak season” shifted several times last spring). When most people think of cherry blossoms, they picture Washington DC although in nearly every nearby city one will find blooming trees and unique backdrops without the same crowds. Inspired by the fresh greens and pink blossoms, Baltimore provided the perfect backdrop for these spring bridal portraits. When driving through the city and surrounding areas, it’s not hard to find blooming trees in every corner you look (which is what makes this time of year SO special!) that will be the perfect compliment to brides, couples, and families everywhere.
