I have a confession to make. When I was a teenager, I was obsessed with the idea of having purple hair. That deep, rich purply purple, like a plum has. I tried repeatedly to get this color, but each dye (boxed dye) always ended up being on the red side - closer to burgundy. Which was fine, but not what I had in mind. Alas, I gave up on my dreams. So why am I sharing this now? Well, Amanda made all my purple hair dreams come true on her wedding day!

I photographed Amanda and Ian’s Stone Manor Country Club wedding in Frederick, MD on October 19th - the most popular wedding date of last year! From our first conversation, I knew their wedding was going to be special. Amanda is a photographer herself and we talked about the challenges of switching from being behind the camera to being in front of it. I personally think she and Ian both did a great job of being in the moment and looked lovely in the process

One of my favorite things about Amanda and Ian’s wedding day was their incorporation of family heirlooms. A piece of Amanda’s mother’s wedding veil was sewn into the underside of her wedding gown, her grandmother’s ring was made into a lovely (Titanic-esc) heart shaped necklace which Amanda wore, and her engagement ring belonged to her great grandmother. This nod to family history is always so special!

Another favorite moment was during the father daughter dance. Well, really the whole dance! Amanda and Dean, her father, danced to Bohemian Rhapsody and it was magical! Everyone jumped in at the end of the song and the laughter and happiness as they danced together was unmatched! It was a day full of incredible joy and celebration which was visible on each person’s face. Congratulations Amanda and Ian!
